Nintendo Wii Console

Nintendo Wii Console

The Wii is undoubtedly one of the hottest video game systems on the market today. It is certainly the most unique video game system out there.

Currently there is not any other gaming system that gives the interactivity between the game and the player that the Wii does. Once you have played it you will be hooked. It is unlike any other video game system you have ever played.

This fabulous little system is powered by an IBM PowerPC processor. ATI gives it a newly developed onboard graphics engine, along with 512mb flash memory for game storage. It also has Bluetooth built in that allows up to 4 cordless controllers to be used at the same time, and standing as far away as 30 feet. The Wii console also has four Gamecube controller jacks, plus two slots for memory cards.

A self-loading bay plays single or double layered optical discs. And if you want to access online features via the Internet the Wii console can do that via wireless technology or through a USB – Ethernet adapter. You can also use this to communicate via wireless technology with the Nintendo DS.

Wii Compatibility With Nintendo Gamecube

The Wii is backwards compatible. What that means is that the Wii is able to load both its own games, and any Gamecube games. How that benefits you:

  1. You can still play all your Gamecube games
  2. It works with the Gamecube memory cards
  3. It allows you to use the Gamecube controllers

What that really means for you is SAVING$$$. In other words, just because you buy a new Wii doesn’t mean you have to throw out your Gamecube games, controllers and memory cards. For a family trying to enjoy gaming, yet save a few bucks at the same time, the Wii is a very smart decision.

So much for the technical stuff, let’s get down to the fun stuff. What makes the Wii so much fun? Besides the console, the Wii has two really cool and innovative pieces: the remote and the Nunchuk.

The Wii Remote is a completely cordless, motion controlled device that knows how you’re moving it. It uses that knowledge to translate into movement on the screen. Depending on the game you’re playing you can use the remote as a gun for shooting, a sword for battles or your arm for bowling.

Each remote can also store an avatar which the Nintendo Wii system calls a Mii avatar. This avatar is a 3-D character you design for yourself by giving it the hair color you want, the eyes, the look etc. These Miis, which are stored in your controller, can be taken with you when you go over to friends’ houses and play on their Wii.

The remote also has a built-in speaker. Some games provide for realistic sounds that come out of your remote, like stringing and shooting an arrow from a bow.

The Wii system also has a Nunchuck. No that doesn’t mean you’re going to be Bruce Lee, although you never know. The Nunchuck connects to the Wii remote, via an expansion port, and is used to add extra umph to your gaming. In many of the games the Nunchuck is used to move characters around and perform certain actions. You can hold a remote in one hand and a Nunchuk in the other.

When you make an investment in a Wii video game system you still want to be able to save money on a Wii. That’s what this site is for. Also if you’ve ever purchased a Nintendo Wii before, or any video game system, you know there are accessories that can  used to enhance the experience. Here are a few accessories that Nintendo has developed for the Wii.

Besides the Class Controller and the Nunchuk, Nintendo has added a couple more things that can be used with some of their games. One of those new things is the Wii Zapper. The Wii Zapper is used with the remote controller and the Nunchuk. You slide the Wii remote in the trigger of the Zapper and slip the Nunchuk onto the back and then you can use the Zapper as a gun for shooting or as a crossbow.

Another new innovation from Nintendo for the Wii is the Wii Wheel. Yup, you guessed it, the Wii Wheel is used for driving in the racing games. It’s easy to use, too. You just snap the Wii remote controller into the wheel, which gives you easy access to all the buttons, and then you’re ready to go.

On more new thing Nintendo has come out with for the Wii is the Wii Speak. The Wii Speak is a hands-free microphone that allows you to talk with friends who also have a Wii Speak, or send them voice messages. This is great for online playing. The Wii Speak rests on top of your TV.

Wii Balance Board Adds New Dimension To Gaming

The Wii Balance Board is an accessory that’s created for the Wii Console. In games where there is movement involved it interprets the movement of your feet, just like the remote controller does with your arm. Besides the Wii Fit, a couple of the games that the Wii Balance Board can be used with are EA Sports Active, Punch Out, Namco We Ski & Snowboard and Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout.

The Wii MotionPlus could be the biggest development Nintendo could bring to the Wii. One problem the Wii was notorious for was its lack of precision in some movements where precision is necessary such as EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis or Tiger Woods PGA Tour ‘10. The Wii MotionPlus fixes that.

This $20 accessory attaches to the end of the Wii remote control and vastly improves motion detection by allowing for more comprehensive tracking of the player’s arm positioning and movement.
